Beyond the classroom, I mentor frequently within APSA’s sponsored mentoring program and Stanford’s Pathways to Ph.D. program, which coach students from under-represented backgrounds to apply to graduate programs and launch their academic careers. Previous mentees have attended top-ranked Ph.D. programs at the University of Chicago, the University of Michigan, Northwestern University, and elsewhere. In recognition of my commitment to mentoring students from under-represented backgrounds, APSA invited me to present my experiences at a specially organized “best practices for mentors” panel at the 2024 annual conference.
